Another big week for the aged care sector with the Fair Work Commission (FWC) looking to override the Labor Government’s plan to phase in its 15% wage increase for aged care workers by setting a firm deadline: 30 June, just over four months away.
Will the Government find the cash to fund the extra 5%? We say that they should – and extend the pay rise to all aged care workers.
Listed residential care provider Estia Health has also released its Half Yearly results, which reflect a an increasingly positive momentum for the operator – see my interview with CEO Sean Bilton below about why occupancy is key to their success.
Sean will also be speaking at our 2023 LEADERS SUMMIT, which is now 80% sold out. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to hear from 40-plus of the sector’s leading minds, 16-17 March at the Hyatt Park Regency. Register here.

Fed Govt should pay up for all aged care workers after Fair Work Commission forces its hand on 15% wage rise
With the sector now waiting for the Federal Government’s response to this week’s Fair Work Commission (FWC) ruling that its full 15% wage increase should be paid out by 30 June, some aged care workers are still being excluded from the pay rise – and in a world of inflation and COVID-19, it’s just not fair.
Why you should attend and who you can meet at the LEADERS SUMMIT – now 80% sold
